Perast
Montenegro
Our first day trip in Montenegro was to the picture postcard town of Perast. I'd already visited the town before on a day trip many years ago from Dubrovnik, and really wanted to see it again. In particular, I wanted to visit Our Lady of the Rocks, a tiny man-made island in the Bay of Kotor, a short boat ride from the shore. The island itself had been built by scuttling ships filled with rubble, before a church was erected on top of it around 400 years ago.
It's a beautiful place, incredibly well preserved and surrounded on all sides by the Dinaric Alps. Catching a ferry out to the Our Lady of the Rocks is easy. Just turn up at the harbour, and you'll find a number of kiosks ready to take your booking. It's worth also climbing the bell tower at St. Nicholas' Church, for the view over the bay. It's well worth the single Euro you'll pay to get in, but might be a little too exposed for those with a fear of heights.
We chose to catch a bus from Kotor to Perast, but if we were to do it again, we'd almost certainly book a boat tour.
These photographs were taken with the Fujifilm X-T5, the Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R LM WR and the Fujinon XF 90mm f2 R LM WR. And of course, I'd never be without my Kase Wolverine circular polariser.
