Dubrovnik
Croatia
While spending a few nights in Montenegro, we took a private day trip across the Croatian border to Dubrovnik. The weather was gorgeous, and the ancient walled city was unusually quiet. Most famous as the location for King's Landing in the Game of Thrones TV series, Dubrovnik old town is a beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It dates back to the 7th century, originally called Ragusa, and has survived several brushes with destruction. First was a devastating earthquake in 1667, followed by the Napoleonic wars and then finally the Croatian War of Independence in the 90's. Seeing some of the photographs of the latter, it's a miracle any of it is still standing.
It's worth the eye-watering price of entry to walk the city walls, to get an amazing view out over the Dalmatian coast, and across the bright orange terracotta rooftops of the old city.
These photographs were taken with the Fujifilm X-T5, the Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R LM WR and the Fujinon 14mm f/2.8 R. And of course, I'd never be without my Kase Wolverine circular polariser.
