Gullfoss
Iceland
Gullfoss is an awe-inspiring waterfall in South West Iceland, and part of the famous Golden Circle - a popular tourist trail featuring Þingvellir and the geysers of Haukadalur. The name literally means "Golden Falls" in Icelandic. The last time I was here, the weather was much milder and the ice was all but defrosted, making the waterfall a raging torrent of freezing meltwater.
This time, however, it was still frozen over, leaving behind a far calmer trickle of swirling turquoise water between some beautifully intricate natural ice sculptures. Thankfully I had a couple of telephoto lenses with me, which allowed me to capture some of it in close detail.
These photographs were taken with the Fujifilm X-T5, the Fujinon XF 90mm f2 R LM WR and the magnificent Fujifilm XF 200mm f2 R LM OIS WR.
