The Devil's Pulpit

Hidden away, North West of Glasgow, on the road to Loch Lomond lies a 100ft deep gorge called The Devil's Pulpit (also known as Finnich Glen).

The name The Devil's Pulpit comes from the rock formation shown in the photograph above, which looks a bit like a church pulpit, especially when lit by a shaft of sunlight like it was the day I visited.

It's not signposted, so can be a bit tricky to find. I parked on a grassy triangle at a junction just down the road, then walked about five minutes until I came to a hole in the wall just passed the bridge.

From there, it's an easy trek through the woods along the river to a very steep staircase down to the gorge below.
