Aiguille du Midi

The second leg of my motorcycle tour across Europe brought me to Aiguille du Midi (Needle of the Mid-day), the highest mountain peak in the world that is accessible by cable car.

It's by far the best vantage point from which to see the magnificent Mont Blanc, without having to strap on a pair of crampons. There's a cable car station halfway up the mountain, where you can sit and watch the hang gliders sailing above Camonix in the valley below.
