Lake Obersee

If you're ever lucky enough to visit Lake Königssee in Berchtesgaden, I'd highly recommend taking the boat trip across to the idyllic Lake Obersee, a smaller body of water tucked away in a valley on the South shore.

It's only a short hike, and is well worth it for the awe-inspiring views and a refreshing paddle in the crisp, turquoise alpine water.

Depending on the time of year, it might also be worth hiking a little further to Röthbachfall waterfall, although for me in turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, as the intense heatwave had all but dried it up.
