Whilst riding around the Dolomites, I came across Lago di Carezza, a beautiful turquoise lake with a bit of a legend behind it. Apparently, it was home to a water nymph named Ondina who caught the eye of a sorcerer. Eager to win her favour, the sorcerer built her a rainbow bridge out of precious jewels, that stretched out across the water. When she rejected his generosity, he became angry and smashed it to smithereens.

Since then, the water has apparently shimmered with every colour of the rainbow, giving the lake it's other name "Lec de Ergobando" (the Rainbow Lake). I didn't see any rainbow colours, only the vivid turquoise you see in my photographs, which was special enough.

These photographs were taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and the extraordinary Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 II.
