Kilchurn Castle
Scotland
We took the afternoon off from photographing red deer at the Bridge of Orchy, as soon as our subjects had wandered back up into the mountains, and took a quick drive over to the Kilchurn Castle ruins on the banks of Loch Awe. Rather than heading straight to the castle, however, we turned off onto the A819 and stopped across the water for a better viewpoint.
If you're going to head to this location, I wouldn't recommend walking directly across the field to the waters edge. The grass is incredibly boggy, especially at this time of year. Rather, trace the edge of the field, where the ground is more solid, and there are some bog mats in the wetter areas to help you across. We found these two ginger beauties sunning themselves in the foreground, and it seemed a shame to leave them out of the picture.
