Inner Farne
For a long time now, I've been meaning to take a boat trip out to Inner Farne National Trust Bird Sanctuary to photograph the puffins there, but had never got round to it. This year, the summer was in full flight and I knew the little orange-billed cuties wouldn't be on the island for very much longer - by august they'd have all disappeared.
So I packed up my trusty 200mm and headed off to the little harbour town of Seahouses to catch a boat out to the island. There are lots of companies doing boat trips out to the Farne Islands, but many of them don't stop at Inner Farne. If you want to get off the boat and explore the island, you'll need to make sure your trip includes that. I booked this trip, which included an hour to wander the island before heading back to the mainland.
These photographs were taken with the Fujifilm X-T5 and the magnificent Fujifilm XF 200mm f2 R LM OIS WR .
