Furka Pass

Some of the most enjoyable sections of my journey from Brienz in Switzerland to the North of Italy were along the Furka Pass, a stunning stretch of road some 2,429m above sea level, and famous for its cameo in the 1964 James Bond movie Goldfinger.

While the road itself is an absolute hoot, some of the views are just as good. There are dozens of lay-bys and parking spots, where you can stretch your legs and take in the breathtaking scenery, including a glimpse of the Rhône Glacier spilling out between the peaks.
